Brian H. Dunn

Brian Dunn is the managing partner of the Kansas City office. He began his legal career in 1982 and shortly thereafter developed an expertise in ERISA. He has been a key note speaker at various Employee Benefits and ERISA conferences. As the chair of the firm's ERISA/Employee Benefits Group, he represents multiemployer groups and single employers with health & welfare, pension, 401(k) and non-qualified plans. He also chairs the firm's Employment Law Group which advises clients on personnel handbooks as well as general employment rights issues.

Before forming Dunn & Davison, Brian held partner positions at Spencer Fane Britt & Browne, Mitchell Kristl & Lieber, Dunn Keller Gillespie Johnston & Latz, and Brown & Dunn.

In the past ten years, Brian has expanded his practice to include the banking and trust company industry. He is a member of the Boards of Directors of several banks/trust companies.

Brian's main goal is to provide quality legal services in a cost-effective manner for a wide variety of clients.

  • Negotiated $17 million restructuring of debt and placement for national concrete manufacturer.
  • Represented regional bank in restructuring and payment of $29 million loan and creation of security interest.
  • Represented national college in response to a complaint filed with the National Labor Relations Board.
  • Developed required amendments to health plans on behalf of several large, multi-company plans.
  • Developed required amendments under Pension Protection Act for single employer and multi-company plans.
  • Successfully negotiated voluntary compliance program filings with the IRS on behalf of multi-company plan.
  • Prepared succession plan family-based multi-million dollar equipment manufacturer.
  • Successfully settled unfair labor practice charge filed against national equipment distribution company.
  • Reviewed and developed investment policy statements and individual plans for $500 million dollar qualified plan.
  • Negotiated contracts with investment providers.
  • Prepared and completed RFPs for service providers related to qualified plans.
  • Conducted multiple employment law training sessions for management personnel of large national organization.
